How to Choose a Killtec Ski Jacket

Ready to compare actual models? Browse the Killtec ski jacket collection for dedicated men's, women's and children's ski jackets, and use the checklist below to evaluate each product.

Choosing a Killtec ski jacket starts with the individual model, rather than its color or a single waterproofing number. Use this checklist to compare construction, snow features and fit before ordering.

1. Read waterproofing and seam details together

A water-column rating describes the fabric's resistance to water pressure. It does not tell you everything about the finished garment. Read the description for taped or sealed seams and whether the model is described as waterproof or water-repellent.

For example, the boys' KSW 216 ski jacket lists a 10,000 mm water column, taped seams and waterproof construction. The boys' KSW 220 quilted ski jacket also lists a 10,000 mm water column, but its description specifies water-repellent construction. Do not assume the two offer identical protection just because the rating matches.

2. Separate breathability from ventilation

Breathability figures describe water-vapor permeability and are normally shown in g/m²/24 h. Ventilation openings are separate features: check whether the particular jacket lists them. A breathability number alone does not mean a jacket has underarm vents.

The KSW 216 and KSW 220 product descriptions both list 3,000 g/m²/24 h. These are published specifications, not results from testing conducted by Killtec USA.

3. Compare the details you will use

  • Snow skirt: check whether it is present and adjustable.
  • Hood: adjustable and detachable are different features. If helmet compatibility matters, confirm it for the specific model rather than assuming it.
  • Cuffs: look for adjustment, inner cuffs and thumb holes in the product description.
  • Pockets: decide whether you need a ski-pass pocket or internal storage.
  • Lining: read the model's insulation description; a waterproof rating is not a warmth rating.

For an adult example, the men's KSW 90 ski jacket lists taped seams, a detachable adjustable hood, a snow guard and cuffs with thumb holes. Compare the complete product details before choosing.

4. Check fit with your planned layers

Use the Killtec sizing and fit checklist. Allow space for your base layer and any midlayer, then check shoulder movement, sleeve coverage and the hem when reaching forward. Do not treat a European numeric size as an identical US size.
